| American
Inventor of British origin, born March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh-Scotland, a
family of ortofonisti, second son of Alexander Melville Bell and Elisa
Grace Symonds. Has two brothers Melville (1845-1870) and Edward
(1848-1867). |

1862 at London by his grandfather specialist in the mechanics of
language where he learns the basics of matter, living in London is one
year. Young 16
years, teaches music and delivered by Weston House Elgin Academy,
(Scotland), a consideration of this work can follow lessons greek and
Latin for a year. On the death of his grandfather Alexander
(1865) replaces the father of ortofonista in London. From'68
to 70 studying
physiology at University College, London, then in 70 emigrates to
Canada with parents, the year after moving to the United
States. Teach
a deaf and dumb language of "visible word" method developed by his
father. In
1872 opened a school for the deaf in Boston and soon connects at Boston
where Bell became Professor of physiology voice. Meets this year
Gardiner Hubbard (future father-in-law) which brings the daughter Mabel
care, Mabel age five years as a result of scarlet fever remains
deaf. Bell
falls in love with Mabel. In 1875 Thomas Watson knows, a young
electrician, Charles Williams who has a warehouse of articles
electrical Boston.This staff is developing a "harmonic telegraph" which
presents the patent application to the Patent Office on April 6, 1875. |

| Thomas
Sanders, and Gardiner Greene Hubbard finance the invention of
Bell. On
7 March 1876 gets 174,465 US PATENT. In the same year using the
telegraph lines between East Boston and Cambridge and can converse with
Watson. The'77 marks (12
February) the success of a conversation to 22 km away Boston and the
Institute of Essex, June 9 based society Bell Telephone Company with
Watson, Thomas Sanders and Gardiner Hubbard and 11 June bride
Mabel. Bell
set up in Washington in 1879 and works towards finalizing the
"photo phone" with Charles Sumner Tainter. Publish a scientific journal
with his stepfather Hubbard, in 1882, in 1883 opened a school in
Washington for deaf children. Even with Hubbard and another in 1888
participates in the foundation of the National Geographic
Society which
will have the presidency from 1897 to 1904.
