In 1882 he attended the University of Berlin. Must abandon the option for financial reasons when died his father. In 1884 he files a patent application "Elektrisches Teleskop" (electric telescope) and obtains patents tele-vision. After his military service provided Nipkow works at Zimmermann-Buchloh, Borsigwalde as designer of safety devices for footwear and this company will be promoted to Chief Engineer. In 1919 you retired early and devotes all his time to perfecting the disc he patented. In 1930 Siemens & Halske Berlin acquires its patent on the synchronization of 1924. The model Nipkow until the advent of television electronics remained the foundation for all trials of mechanical television. "  On 18 April 1934 there was the first experimental release from the station "Paul Nipkow from Krollper Berlin.  And from the March 22, 1935 start emissions (daily) Deutschen Reichspost produced by Reichsrundfunkgesellschaft in Band UHF. Next year we will have the regular service, the station Nipkow had 14 employees and had a budget of 300,000 Reichsmark. Nipkow In 1935 he was appointed by President Reichsrundfunkgesellschaft honorary society Fernsehgemeinschaft, used for propaganda.  Nevertheless, Nipkow spent his old age in modest conditions.  Conserve until his death a spirit of inventor.  After his death, he was buried at the cemetery III of Pankow. A commemorative plaque was placed on house number 5  1914 until his death
